U.S.-GCC Business Initiative

The U.S.-GCC Business Initiative is the premiere advocacy organization dedicated to strengthening the commercial relationship between the United States and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.

The U.S.-GCC Business Initiative manage the important bilateral economic relationships with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain as well as engage key officials at the GCC Secretariat who affect trade and commerce across the six states.

This follows significant interests both from our U.S. corporate members and companies from the GCC interested in making inward investments into the United States.

The U.S.-GCC Business Initiative is deeply engaged with commercial and investment institutions in the region and leverages its partnerships and nine American Chambers of Commerce in the GCC countries.

The Chamber has signed Memoranda of Understanding with the following:

  • Council of Saudi Chambers
  • UAE Federation of Chambers and Industry
  • Qatar Chamber of Commerce
  • Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC)
  • Sharjah Investment and Development Authority

In addition, the Chamber has a strong working relationship with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC). These partnerships help provide access for the Chamber and our members to key government officials and business leaders in the region and serve as avenues to advance our policy and regulatory agenda.

Our History

The Initiative was launched in early 2014 and coincided with the U.S. Chamber’s engagement with senior business executives from over 20 companies and firms in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Riyadh. The Chamber signed Memoranda of Understanding with the Council of Saudi Chambers, the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC), and the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority. We also have a strong working relationship with the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

Leveraging our institutional partnerships and nine American Chambers of Commerce in the region, the Chamber is expanding our work to engage GCC states to deepen bilateral trade and investment. Opportunities for commercial engagement between the United States and the GCC countries extends to a wide variety of sectors, from energy to healthcare and education, to culture and defense, and the Initiative works to develop and expand these key partnerships.
